The Vvaan Story

The story follows Rishi, played by Sidharth Malhotra, a Mumbai based engineer who returns to his ancestral village in Bihar with his wife Mamta, played by Tamannaah Bhatia. Rishi initially comes to the village to deal with family property matters. His arrival takes place during the Chhath Puja celebrations, when the village is deeply connected with its traditional beliefs and customs. There is a mysterious forest near the village that locals believe should never be entered after dark. According to the legend, the forest is protected by Van Devi, a supernatural force that punishes those who disturb its sanctity. Rishi does not believe in the villagers warnings. As a rational and scientifically minded person, he considers the stories to be superstition. Things change when he enters the forbidden forest and accidentally breaks an ancient seal. A supernatural force is unleashed, forcing Rishi to face events that cannot be explained through science. The story then develops into a supernatural thriller as Rishi attempts to understand the mystery and protect his family.

The Vvaan Movie Review

The strongest part of The Vvaan is its atmosphere. The forests and rural locations create an appropriate setting for a story based on folklore and supernatural beliefs. The first half takes time to establish the village, the mysterious forest and the legend of Van Devi. This section creates curiosity and gradually introduces the supernatural elements. The second half becomes more action focused and introduces larger supernatural sequences. However, the visual effects are not always consistent and some scenes lose the impact created earlier in the film. The movie also combines several genres including supernatural thriller, mythology, family drama, comedy and action. While this makes the film different from a conventional horror movie, it also results in an uneven screenplay in parts.
