Apple Introduces New Upgrade Program in the US: Lease iPhones, Macs, iPads and More With Flexible Monthly Payments

Apple has introduced the Apple Upgrade Program in the United States, offering customers a new way to own the latest Apple devices without paying the full amount upfront. The program allows users to lease eligible iPhones, Apple Watches, iPads, and Macs through affordable monthly payments. Customers can sign up via the Apple Store online, the Apple Store app, or physical Apple Stores.
Apple Upgrade Program: Pricing and Benefits
The lease period varies by product. iPhones and Apple Watches can be leased for 12 to 24 months, while Macs and iPads are available for 24 to 36 months. Monthly pricing starts at $17.99 for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad. Customers can also lower their monthly payments by trading in an eligible device through Apple Trade In. Those paying with an Apple Card receive 3% Daily Cash, while AppleCare+ can be added for an extra fee.

Flexible End-of-Lease Options
Once the lease ends, customers have three choices: upgrade to a newer Apple device, purchase the current one with a one-time payment, or simply return it. The program is powered by Klarna, allowing users to manage billing and payments through the Klarna app. Apple says the application process only takes a few minutes and includes a soft credit check that does not affect the customer’s credit score.

Replaces the Old iPhone Upgrade Program
With the launch of Apple Upgrade, the company is phasing out its previous iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments in the US. Existing users can continue with their current plans, but new customers will now need to choose Apple Upgrade, Apple Card Monthly Installments, carrier financing, or pay the full purchase price.
